High-level assembly integration


Dedicated Computing provides integration of high level cluster assemblies of compute nodes, often used in OEM applications where the amount of computing power needed exceeds the resources of a single compute engine. Clusters often include a set of compute nodes, switch, keyboard and display, power management and storage elements.

DC architects clusters including compute engines, the data network, storage and system management functionality. DC has the in-house software expertise to assist OEM customers in getting all the software elements of the system working well together, including the loading of the application code onto compute nodes, the operating systems and the system management software.

All aspects of the design, customer requirements and integration processes are captured in DC's manufacturing system to ensure repeatability from order to order over time.

DC integrates every element of the cluster including:

  • The compute nodes, including servers and/or single board computer nodes
  • Software elements including operating systems, application loading tools, application image management, health monitoring and high-availability middleware
  • Data traffic and storage including distributed storage technologies, data backup and database architectures
  • Switch fabrics, including switching technologies, data transport protocols, latencies and bandwidth requirements
  • Power requirements, including power management, power-up sequencing and UPS provisioning and monitoring
  • Racks and cart designs: Manufacturing can be provided by local supplier partners, enabling DC to offer high-level assemblies with a minimum of intermediate shipping costs.
  • Cable management, KVM & display/keyboard tools
  • Custom branding and packaging design

DC takes ownership of the functionality of the complete system, ensuring that the compute engine is tested in its deployed configuration and any effects the racks or carts have on the system are characterized.

Our ability to produce complete high level assemblies engineered to meet customer requirements, combined with our ship-to-end-user program, can enable OEMs and ISVs to operate in a "no factory" mode.
