Switched-fabric Systems

Dedicated Computing designs and manufactures compute engines based on industry standard switched fabric architectures, including PICMG 2.16 and Advanced TCA (PICMG 3.X). These architectures provide the capability to design a “cluster within a system” connecting compute “blades” together via a switched fabric such as Ethernet.

These industry standard architectures provide OEMs with several advantages including:

  • The ability to design systems based on building-block subsystems (such as chassis, compute blades, I/O blades and switched fabric cards) from multiple vendors.
  • The ability to develop systems with very high-capacity and high-bandwidth interconnects, such as Gbit Ethernet.
  • The ability to architect a “cluster within a single chassis”
  • The ability to develop systems that utilize multiple operating systems within a single system.
  • 99.999% reliability and very low MTTR (mean time to repair).
